Travel guide to… Ilkley

Ilkley is a bustling spa town located in West Yorkshire and has been named the best place to live in the UK! It has a strong community feel and definitely worth a visit with its plethora of independent restaurants ranging from casual, cosy pubs to upmarket cocktails bars.

Where to eat and drink

Brooks is a gem of a restaurant serving fantastic Asian style tapas that also has an extensive wine and cocktail menu. For something a bit more laid back, then The Veggie Cafe might be your vibe. It serves locally sourced produce specialising in fresh vegetarian food. For a traditional afternoon tea, be sure to stop by Betty’s Tea Rooms for an elegant and classic experience.

Where to sleep

For some luxury, Westwood Lodge is a 5 star country lodge that also has self catering cottages that are decorated beautifully and well located. For a more chilled stay, Dales View B&B is perfect for delicious breakfasts and an ideal starting point if you are going to walk the Dales Way.

Where to shop

Nora’s Interiors and Gift shop is an award winning independent lifestyle shop that supports British and local designers and makers. There are also plenty of outdoor clothing stores that will set you up for adventures in the surrounding countryside.

What to do

You can't visit Ilkley without having a walk along Ilkley Moor. There are plenty of walking trails that are suitable for all the family. The tranquil views are stunning and it is a paradise for bird watching.
