Coniston is intrinsically linked to World Speed Record holder Donald Campbell since his tragic death on Coniston Water in January 1967, after years of setting speed records on the lake. Bluebird K7 was eventually recovered from the depths of Coniston Water and has been restored, and recently returned to permanent display at the Ruskin Museum in Consiton.
